Demanding and Dynamic Industrial for Comprehensive Solution

Achieving Efficiency and Reliability with Wireless Communication

In the challenging environment of a sea shore facility with harsh, humid climate conditions, a critical application involved the remote control and interlocking of Stacker-Reclaimers, vital machines in the material handling section. These machines, three pairs in total, played a pivotal role in preparing and managing raw material stockpiles essential for cement production. To facilitate seamless communication, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) were employed on these moving machines, utilizing the DF1 protocol. Meanwhile, in Load Center 1 (LC1) at the field’s forefront, a Siemens S7-400 PLC with Profibus protocol was stationed.

The solution came in the form of SWTPL wireless devices, which successfully established a wireless link between the mobile machines and a protocol converter module (Prosoft) located in LC1. This innovative setup enabled data communication between the two PLC systems. From there, a further connection was established via a protocol converter module, ultimately linking to a PLC located in the Central Control Room (CCR) through a robust fiber optic connection. This comprehensive solution ensured the reliable and efficient control of Stacker-Reclaimers in the demanding and dynamic industrial environment.
